Late september 2024, hidden inside the Leipzig Municipal Library in Germany, a long lost piece of music written by the late Wolfgang Amedus Mozart was uncovered. Mozart is most famously known for his requiem (“a musical service or composition in honor of the dead”), The magic flute and Symphony No. 41. Though he died in December of 1791, it has become apparent that in his teenage years, being about 10 to 13 years old at the time, around 1760, he wrote some music that never came to fruition, or became lost to time. The music piece, "Ganz kleine Nachtmusik" was actually a copy of the original written song. So even though the piece found was written by Mozart, it wasn't in his writing as it was a copy of his original work. This is evident as the handwriting is not his, neither is signed by Mozart.Earlier this September, the 21st graduates from the Johann Sebastian Bach music school, played the long lost piece and the world was blessed by the work of Mozart once more. Wolfgang Amedus Mozart was, and still is considered to be one the greatest musical geniuses of all time, some say he was born gifted, it's hard to argue against that if he composed a song like this while only being 13 years old. It truly is fascinating to see such an old and historic relic come back to life and be available for all to hear from over 250 years ago.
