Powder-Puff Results

Updated: Dec 10, 2023

2 October, 2023- The annual powder-puff football game ends in a near shut-out of the juniors and a perfect ending for the seniors.

The juniors start the game with a scoreless drive, leading to a punt, allowing the seniors to gain 20 yards. Running back Amanda McArthur would rush it in for a touchdown, laying the groundwork for the senior's success.

After three scoreless drives by the juniors, the seniors would pick up two more touchdowns, one from quarterback Emily Newbeck and another from McArthur. Once halftime hit, the score was 24-0.

To keep junior's chance of a victory alive, they needed to start scoring the next half, and with the junior's hope for a comeback, both teams headed to the locker room to debrief.

Once back, the Seniors start with the ball and have a scoring drive ending in Newbeck running it in for a touchdown, the score increasing to 32-0. Despite multiple good runs by junior Hadley Craig, two scoreless drives by the juniors left a disappointing aura around the junior sideline as time continued to dwindle.

Finally breaking the bad luck, a 20-yard-pass from quarterback Lily McCormick into the hands of Wide Receiver Hadley Craig gets the juniors on the board, making the score 43-8. Despite this burst of success from the junior offense, the senior offense would fire back. Leaving no score unanswered, the seniors complete a 10-yard-pass to Ashley Barba for the game's last touchdown, leaving the juniors to a devastating 51-8 loss.

Head coach of the senior team, Matt Quinn, comments on the game as a whole, stating, "We executed fantastically and kicked well. Defense definitely clamped up, and our offense couldn't be stopped." The feeling is shared by all seniors when Quinn also adds, "It turned out how we wanted and was overall a great game. I'm super happy with the win."
