Central highschool has recently broken a new record of ours, What is it you may ask? No it's not a record for Football, soccer or any of our sports teams for that matter. Not even for the music department, but instead our school's population! Having more students enrolled than ever in our schools history.
Currently holding around 1500 students which is almost double the amount that our school is supposed to hold. Now for some this is great news: more funding, bigger sports teams, and more people to meet!
While all these things are great and true the downsides are quite strenuous. Due to our school being built to hold a smaller population, Essentially Central High School is at a tipping point, with counselors being flooded with scheduling errors and trying to fit students into all their classes needed when it's not quite possible.
We asked our fellow peers their thoughts on their opinions of the matter: “It's kind of a problem especially the hallways. I feel like there's not enough teachers for students”- Bailey Perkins (‘27), another student said “I like how many new people there are but I feel like I got put into a lot of random classes because everything was already full”- said a student that wishes to stay anonymous.
How do you feel about these changes in our school year? How have they affected you or your friends? Let us know!
